Gribobo Terms of Use

1. What Gribobo is

Gribobo is a free, open-source app for chatting on Matrix, an open network of independent servers. The Gribobo developers do not run the server your account is on. Your homeserver's own terms and rules apply to your account and messages.

2. No warranty

Gribobo is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, as also stated in its licence (AGPL-3.0, sections 15 and 16). We do our best, but we can't promise the app will always work, be free of errors, or suit your needs.

3. Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, the Gribobo developers are not liable for any damage or loss from using the app. This includes lost messages, lost encryption keys or recovery keys, data loss, service interruptions, and problems caused by servers, push services, or other people.

4. Your responsibility

You agree to use Gribobo in line with the laws that apply to you and the rules of the server you use. Don't use it to harass people, send spam, spread malware, or share illegal content. You are responsible for what you send.

5. Privacy features have limits

End-to-end encryption protects what your messages say. It doesn't hide who you talk to or when. The message disguise and PIN help keep your screen private from people nearby, but they are not a security guarantee. Keep your recovery key safe: no one, including us, can recover your account or your encrypted messages without it.

6. Our push services

The notification services push.gribobo.chat and ntfy.gribobo.chat are free and may change, be interrupted, or stop at any time.

7. Abuse

We can't see or moderate messages, especially encrypted ones. Report abuse to the operator of the server involved, and block people in the app.

8. Age

Gribobo is not intended for children under 16.

9. Licence

Gribobo's code is licensed under the GNU AGPL-3.0. These terms don't limit the rights the licence gives you.
